Hugo House Long Story Short zine is written ‘live’ from Capitol Hill

Posted

Think you’re a writer? Aspiring and seasoned Capitol Hill writers looking to get published can test their quick-drafting skills at Hugo House’s upcoming community write-in, which offers participants the chance to be featured in the next issue of Long Story Short.

The volunteer-run quarterly zine is welcoming short-form submissions written on-site.

At the start of the session, organizers will unveil the issue’s secret theme and creative prompts. Attendees will then have a dedicated four-hour block to write and submit a piece of up to 500 words that aligns with the organization’s community spirit.

It sounds almost as fun as being a CHS freelancer!

Hugo House has served as a community hub for local writers and readers of all stages since 1996, offering classes, readings, and creative events.

The free event takes place Friday, November 6th, starting at 5 PM at Hugo House, located at 1634 11th Ave. Learn more at hugohouse.org.
